The school is equipped with an excellent infrastructure in all respects, be it technology, equipment or furniture. An up-to-date computer lab, science laboratories fitted with ample equipment and materials for independent analysis and experimentation by the students, and facilities for pursuing a variety of sports make AV Kozhikode stand apart.

A Cut Above the Rest

The school has adopted a phonics lab for the accurate training of the children in diction and spelling from the pre-primary level. In this lab children get individual attention and training. This lab has proved itself indispensable in ironing out any local accents or usage that the child may have learned in their vocabulary at a very young age, as it is used at the kindergarten level.

With time, advanced and sophisticated methods of teaching have also evolved. Aided by technology, these methods help the students grasp abstract concepts by simulating them on the computer. Doing these simulated exercises on the computer enables the children to experience a virtual practical session that imprints the concept indelibly on the child’s mind.

The Library....   The game room....

‘Amrita Learning’ is the customized software developed by Amrita. Tailor made, with inputs sought from teachers during each step of the software’s development, Amrita Learning has fast become the favorite session among the children. The software goes hand in hand with the year plan—what a child learns in science class is practiced virtually in the Amrita Learning session. For example, a pre-primary child learns the four directions in class, and then, in an Amrita Learning session, the child goes for a virtual walk with a friend—a chimpanzee, for instance. Hand in hand, the friend explains where the sun rises is the east, where it sets is the west, and so on. This novel experience leaves the child with no doubt about the concept in their mind, and the child leaves the lab in anticipation of the next adventure they are going to have with their friend.

Karate!   The sound of music...

Art and music are very good stimulators. They have the ability to uplift a dampened spirit, and offer hope and solace. They add beauty to what could be an otherwise mundane existence. Music has the extraordinary capacity to reflect and stir the soul's innate feelings—it is verily the rhythm of life. Students are given ample choices to train themselves in arts ranging from singing, the violin, the traditional Chanda Mela, traditional dance to Karate.

Hands that serve are holier than the lips that pray. Students at Amrita are imparted ethics reflecting this belief.

A variety of clubs exist in which each student is expected to contribute a minimum of four hours per week. These clubs engage the students in various community projects like protecting the environment, planting trees, cleaning of public areas, visiting old age homes, and more. Opportunities to be a part of a social good are plentiful at Amrita.

The science laboratories...

The faculty and students at Amrita enjoy an amiable relationship, where apart from being the teacher and the taught, they become partners in learning. Observance of traditions and culture help unite the people from many different walks of life. A familiar tradition with meaningful value breaks the ice between the students and teachers. The occasion becomes a day for connecting, when everyone is able to relate within the society. Such occasions are an integral part of Amrita. Teacher’s Day is awaited with the most anticipation by students and teacher’s alike. For on that one day, the line separating the teacher from the taught becomes indiscernible. Onam is celebrated in full pomp, complete with games from tug-of-war to floral carpets. The pookalam is special in that it invokes tremendous competition among the students, with each class planning their designs and drawing weeks in advance in hope of emerging winners. It is a day, when leaving the rigors of academics behind, teachers and students get an opportunity to bond and know each other better.

GO, GO, GO....!!   We are no less, Ma'am!!!

Amrita offers a wide variety of art forms like music, dance, theatre, and various musical instruments for the students to choose from according to their inclination. Amrita employs experts in each of the art forms for the flawless training of the children. Not stopping with just training of the children, Amrita also gives innumerable opportunities for the students to showcase their talents with art festivals, inter school competitions, programs on various festivals, and more.

In the sports section also, children can choose from martial arts, cricket, tennis, chess, to name a few. Amrita adopts and advocates a policy in which education is not for living alone, but is verily life itself.
