A Visit to Dholaridhani—a Model Rajasthani Village
Amrita aims at using every opportunity it gets to take the children outside, to give the children an insight into the varied cultures and ways of life. Striving to give a peep into the common man’s life in Rajasthan, students of class I and II were taken on a trip to Dholaridhani, ‘a model Rajasthani village’.
There was a dash among the children for boarding the ‘tiny tots train’. The children and staff alike thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of the village on the train. The next attraction was boating in the artificial lake in the center of the village. The swarm of ducks crisscrossing their boat paths initiated shouts of glee from the children, and started a race of sorts between them and the ducks to reach the shore.
Next was a ride on the ship of the desert, the camel, through the model alleyways and housing sites of the village. An artificial pre-historic cave, complete with models of stone age man and his neighbors in the forest he shared his home with, adorned the compound. Pythons, Dinosaurs, Monkeys....
Housing colonies, huts of clay prevalent in the state.... It was a fun visit, filled with information about the alien culture. A feast of exotic Rajasthani cuisine, complete with drinks, proved to be the icing on the cake of the visit.
